The Place and Importance of Women in Alevism

In the pre-Islamic period of ignorance, women were the beings who were humiliated, despised and not even substituted for human beings.

They were neither counted nor loved, they were seen as slaves and servants, they used women to meet their special needs, and they lived without a doubt of their existence. It was such a period that although it was painful to tell, it was a worse order to live in.

Thanks to the rights and freedoms brought about by the religion of Islam, the role and importance of women in the Islamic society has increased. In Alevism, which is the essence of Islam, the place of women is extremely important. The source of this importance is undoubtedly the teachings of the Holy Quran and Ehl-i Beyt. The importance of the place of women in the Qur’an is clearly stated in the verses and how important they are in the Surah Nisa (Women) is a clear indication that religion cares about women in Islam. This chapter contains many verses that defend the rights of women who are subjected to injustice and oppression with the orders of Allah. Almighty Allah created women and men as beings that complement each other and equipped both sides with different characteristics, which is why women have an important place in men as much as men. Men and women are two beings left in need of each other. This creation is such a beautiful will of God. Undoubtedly, it is an important feature that the fertility feature is not given to the woman. This feature is a clear proof of valuing women.

People who humiliate and despise women have no place in Alevism. People with this mindset should never forget that it is a woman who also gives birth to themselves. In the Alevi faith, women are respected and given more importance to women than other beliefs. This is clear.
